COVID-19의 어려움 속에서도 2021년 한 해 동안 주님이 맡기신 여선교회 사역을 잘 완수해 주셔서 감사합니다. 그리고 한인여선교회 전국연합회 회원들 가정 위에 하나님의 사랑과 평강이 함께 하시며 지켜 주시기를 기도합니다.
2021년에도 한인여선교회전국연합회는 국내에서 실시하는 지도자훈련과 해외 선교지를 직접 가지 못했지만, 전국연합회 지역연합회를 통해서 회원들의 사랑과 끊임없는 헌신을 통하여 행동하는 믿음과 소망과 사랑을 가지고, 지혜롭게 선교사역을 잘 감당하게 하셨습니다.
저도 지난 4년간 전국연합회 회장으로서 큰 책임을 맡았는데, 여선교회 사역은 저희 가정에서도 대를 이은 소중한 역사를 가지고 있습니다. 저의 남편의 외할머니인 김세지 전도부인은 1896년 평양에서 미감리회 선교사였던 노블(W.A, Noble) 목사에게 세례를 받고 ‘세지’(Sadie) 라는 세례명을 받으셨습니다.
1899년 미감리회 여선교회 소속 전도부인(Bible woman)이 되어 2천회 이상 가정 심방을 하고, 매월 2회 이상 상갓집을 찾아가 시신의 몸을 닦아주며 장례를 치러 주었습니다. 1903년 한국 최초의 여선교회인 ‘보호여회’(Ladies Aid Society)를 조직하여 회장으로서 전도와 선교, 그리고 여성의 능력계발과 구제 활동에 힘쓰셨습니다. 1916년에는 ‘과부회’(Widows Relief Association)를 조직하여 교회 안의 과부들을 구제하고 자립을 위한 활동에 힘쓰셨습니다. 또한, 1919년 ‘대한애국부인회’를 조직하여 재무부장으로서 독립군 자금을 마련하여 상해 임시정부로 보내다가 일본 경찰에 체포되어 갖은 고문을 당한 후 석방되셨습니다. 1923년에는 평양 칠성문 밖에 교회를 세웠으며, 1925년에 전도부인으로 은퇴하셨습니다.
김세지 할머니의 삶은 18살에 과부가 되고, 다시 23살에 재혼한 기구한 운명이었지만, 복음을 받아들여 새 희망으로 운명을 개척하였으며, 믿지 않는 남편의 박해 속에서도 신앙을 지켜 남편과 가족들을 주님께 인도했으며, 복음으로 자유와 해방을 얻고 평생 여성의 자기 능력계발과 구제 활동에 힘쓰며, 조국의 독립과 사회변혁에 최선을 다하셨습니다. 나라도 잃은 어려운 상황에서 가난과 무지와 여성차별에 맞서서 한국의 여선교회 사역을 완수 하셨습니다.
이런 외할머니의 역사를 아는 남편은 제가 한인여선교회 사역으로 힘들어할 때마다 김세지 할머니를 기억하며 최선을 다하라며 격려를 해 주었습니다. 부족한 제가 전국연합회 회장으로 4년의 임기를 마치는 데는 하나님께서 인도해 주셨으며, 남편의 적극적인 외조와 자녀들의 후원, 전국연합회 임원들, 회원들 그리고 북조지아연합회 여선교회 회원들의 기도와 협조가 있었기에 가능했습니다. 모든 분께 깊은 감사를 드립니다. 앞으로도 한인여선교회 전국연합회를 위해 기도하며 최선을 다해 돕겠습니다. 그리고 여선교회 사역은 저의 삶이 다할 때까지 참여할 것입니다.
가족들과 함께 즐겁고 행복한 성탄절을 맞이하시길 기원합니다.

Let's Celebrate Christmas with hope!

Dear Korean United Methodist women members all over the country,

Despite the difficulties of COVID-19, I thank you all for completing our KUMw missions that the Lord has entrusted us with in 2021. And I pray for God's love, peace and protection to be upon all the families of NNKUMw. Although the NNKUMw was not able to hold in-person national leadership training nor visit our overseas mission fields in 2021, God had allowed us to wisely handle mission work through local network conferences, thanks to our members’ love, dedication, hope, and faith in action.

For the past four years serving as the President of NNKUMw, I was entrusted with a huge responsibility on my shoulders, and UMW ministries hold a valuable history in our family for generations. My husband’s maternal great-grandmother, Seji Kim, was baptized and was christened with the name ‘Sadie’ by Rev. W.A. Noble, an American Methodist missionary in Pyongyang in 1896. In 1899, she became a UMW Bible woman, conducted over 2,000 pastoral visits, and visited funeral houses twice every month, cleaning the corpses herself and leading the funeral service. In 1903, she founded Korea's first UMW, the Ladies Aid Society, putting all her hard work and dedication as the chairwoman in evangelism, missions, and skill development and relief work. She also organized the Widows Relief Association in 1916 to provide for the widows in the church and was dedicated in supporting them to achieve independence. In 1919, she founded the Korean Patriotic Women's Association, raised funds to support the independence forces as the association’s head of finance and sent the funds to the Provisional Government in Shanghai. She was arrested by the Japanese police and was released after being tortured. In 1923, she established a church outside the Chilseong Gate in Pyongyang, and in 1925, retired from her Bible woman position.

Despite all the unfortunate events of being widowed at the age of 18 and getting remarried at 23—upon receiving the gospel, she overcame her struggles and pioneered her fate with new hope. She kept her faith despite her unbelieving husband’s persecutions, and eventually brought her husband and family to the Lord. Through the gospel she gained freedom and liberation, dedicated her entire life to skills development and relief work, and gave her best to assisting independence and social transformation. In a difficult situation in which the nation was in captivity, she completed the UMW missions in Korea and bravely fought against the injustices of poverty, ignorance, and discrimination against women. My husband, who knows about this history, has always encouraged me to remember Grandmother Seji Kim and do my best whenever I was struggling with NNKUMw ministries.

I was able to finish my four-year term as president of NNKUMw with God’s guidance, as well as my husband and childrens’ support, the prayers and cooperation from all our NNKUMw executives, members, and members of the N. Georgia Conference KUMw Network. I express my heartfelt thanks to everyone. I will be there for NNKUMw with all my heart and prayer, and will help out with the best that I can. And I will participate in KUMw missions until the very end of my life.

“2021년 한인여선교회 전국연합회 선교 보고”

사랑의 선물로, 평화의 선물로, 구원의 선물로 이 땅에 오신 주님의 이름으로 인사를 드립니다.
팬데믹의 연속으로 지난 2년간 전 세계가 힘든 상황을 보냈지만, 올해는 백신이 개발되어 “코로나와 함께” (With Corona)라는 분위기 아래 일상의 생활이 정상을 되찾아 갔습니다. 하지만 ‘오미크론’이라는 변종 코로나가 발생하여 다시 전 세계로 퍼져나가고 있고, 탄소로 인한 기후변화의 환경문제도 인류의 생존을 위협하고 있습니다. 또한 과학의 엄청난 발전은 새로운 미래로 우리를 인도하고 있습니다. 이러한 변화는 우리 한인여선교회에게도 큰 도전을 주었습니다. 그래서 2021년부터 한인여선교회 전국연합회는 중요 사역으로 “환경 사역”을 결정하고 “녹색교회 만들기” 캠페인을 9개 지역연합회에서 시작하였습니다. 먼저 녹색교회를 왜 만들어야 하는가? 에 대한 환경 세미나를 실시하였고, 그 결과 몇몇 지역연합회는 환경선교를 구체적으로 실천하였습니다.
“녹색교회 만들기” 캠페인은 개체교회에서 “환경 주일 지키기”를 중점사역으로 플라스틱용품 사용 안 하기, 음식 쓰레기 안 만들기, 자원 재활용하기, 환경문제에 대한 성경 공부와 세미나 실시하기, 환경단체 지원하기, 등을 실시하도록 홍보, 교육, 자료제공을 하는 것이었습니다. “녹색교회 만들기”는 이제 시작단계이지만 하나님이 창조해 주신 환경을 회복시키고, 보존하는 너무도 중요한 “환경 사역”이기에 2022년에도 계속 실천해 나갈 예정입니다.
또한 지역연합회에서 함께 힘을 모아 보내온 선교비로 국내와 해외에 선교비를 지원하였습니다. 국내 선교로 뉴멕시코의 원주민 어린이와 청소년 사역, 오클라호마 인디언 미셔너리 컨퍼런스의 어린이와 청소년 사역, 필라델피아 슬럼 사역, 뉴욕 홈리스 사역, 교도소 문서선교를 실시했습니다. 해외 선교는 중앙아시아 여성 사역, 러시아 여성사역, 몽골 여성 사역을 실시했으며, 카자흐스탄 우소도베의 비닐하우스를 지원해서 빈민 사역, 청년 사역을 실시했고, 고려인 박물관을 건립했습니다. 그리고 국내에선 한인여선교회 회원들에게 새로운 길을 여는 다양한 이슈로 “학당”을 줌 세미나로 5회 실시하였습니다. 학당은 회원들의 지도력 향상과 세상의 변화를 잘 이해하게 하여 선교의 개념을 넓혀주었습니다. 5회 학당에 개근한분들은 구영회, 권오연, 김순덕, 김시춘, 김지영, 문희온, 송은순, 안의숙, 이성은, 이성혜, 한햬윤. 조종은, 김명래등 13명이었습니다
또한 우리들의 꿈나무인 2세 젊은 여성들의 지도자 교육에도 관심을 갖고 계속해서 세미나를 실시해 오고 있습니다.

2022년에도 새로 선출된 전국연합회 임원들과 함께 한인여선교회는 “여성과 어린이와 청소년”을 위한 선교사역들을 계속 이어갈 예정입니다. 또한 2월부터 줌으로 시작되는 학당에서도 한인여선교회 회원들에게 선교에 필요한 다양한 이슈들에 대해서 배우는 시간이 되도록 준비할 예정입니다.
한인여선교회전국연합회의 선교사역을 인도해 주신 하나님을 찬양하며, 선교의 열정을 가지고 “같은 마음, 같은 열정, 같은 비전”을 가지고 열심히 참여해 주신 전국의 한인여선교회 회원들께 진심으로 감사드립니다. 그리고 우리 한인여선교회 회원들이야말로 하나님 나라를 위해 일하시는 이 시대의 진정한 국내 선교사들이십니다.

2021 NNKUMw Mission Report

Greetings in the name of our Lord, who came to this world as a gift of love, peace, and salvation.

The world has been in a difficult situation over the past two years due to the ongoing pandemic, but this year, with vaccine development our daily life has regained its normal status under the theme “With Corona.” However, a variant called "Omicron" has been rapidly spreading around the world again, along with the environmental issue of climate change due to carbon is also threatening mankind’s survival. Also, the remarkable advancement of science is leading us to a new future.  This change also threw a big challenge to KUMw. So, from 2021, the NNKUMw declared "Environmental Missions" as an important ministry and started the "Creating Green Churches" campaign in nine conference networks. We first held environment seminars on ‘why we must create a green church,’ and consequently, several conference networks acted on specific environmental missions.

The “Creating Green Churches” campaign was to promote, educate, and provide resources to prevent the use of plastic items, avoid making food waste, recycle resources, have Bible studies on environmental issues, support environmental organizations, etc.  This campaign just marks the beginning of the project, but it is a very important "environmental ministry" that restores and preserves the very environment created by God, thus we will continue it in 2022.

In addition, we were able to support domestic and overseas missions with the funds that we collected from each conference network. An overview of our domestic missions this year: Tribal children and youth in New Mexico ministry, children and youth ministry at the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference, Philadelphia slum ministry, a homeless ministry in New York, and prison document ministry. For overseas missions, we carried out: women's ministry in Central Asia, women's ministry in Russia, women's ministry in Mongolia, as well as poor and youth ministry by supporting vinyl greenhouses in Usodobe Kazakhstan, as well as founding the Koryeo People's Museum.

Moreover, domestically, we held the “Virtual School” (Hakdang) over five zoom seminar sessions on a variety of issues that opened new paths for KUMw members. The Virtual School expanded our members’ perspective on missions through an in-depth education on leadership development and the changes going on in the world. We are also constantly invested in leadership education for young 2nd generation women—our hope—with continued seminars.

In 2022, along with newly elected executives of NNKUMw, KUMW will continue to serve with missions for "women, children and youth." Also, we are getting ready with our Virtual School which will be starting next February, to make sure to provide an informative learning experience for our KUMw members on various issues that we need to know for missions.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the members of NNKUMw nationwide for your vigorous participation and passion for missions with the same heart, same passion, and same vision. And to our KUMw members: you are the true domestic missionaries of this era who serve the kingdom of God.

2021년 북일리노이 연회 한인여선교회연합회 사역을 돌아보면서

세계를 마비시킨 21세기의 팬데믹에도 불구하고 북일리노이 연회 한인여선교회연합회가 잘 버틸 수 있었던 것에 감사하며 우리를 안전하게 지켜주시는 주님의 은혜를 찬양합니다. 아직 대면 모임은 할 수 없으나 21세기의 팬데믹 가져온 선물, 줌을 통하여 연합회 예배를 볼 수 있었고, 미국 내와 국외 선교를 보조 할 수 있었고 또한 새 회장단을 선출 할 수 있었습니다.
북일리노이 연회 한인여선교회연합회 헌신예배는 2021년 2월 14일 전국연합회(뉴욕) 김명래 총무님께서 참석하시어 중앙 아시아 카자크스탄 우쇼토베에서 선교하시는 박희진 선교사님의 사역을 자세히 소개하였고 예배 중 특별헌금은 전국연합회를 통하여 우쇼토베로 보내졌습니다.
해마다 모여서 같이 위생키트(Hygiene Kits)를 만들었던 연합감리교회 구제위원회주일(UMCOR Sunday), 5월 2일은 판데믹으로 모일 수 없었으므로 헌신예배를 줌으로 드렸습니다. 북일리노이 연회 한인여선교회연합회 멤버로서 선교 사역을 하고 있는 두 선교사님, 임문순 권사: Golden Key Prison Ministry (천국 열쇠 교도선교), 김애리 권사: 러시아 볼고그라드주, 크라노아르메니스키지역, 의 선교 보고가 있었습니다. 예배중 특별 헌금은 각 선교사님께 보내 졌습니다. 각 교회에서 보낸 연합감리교회 구제위원회(UMCOR) 선교 헌금은 Midwest Mission Distribution Center에 위생키트(UMCOR Kits)을 만드는데 사용해 달라고 보냈습니다.
북일리노이 연회 한인여선교회연합회의 선교학교(Mission u)는 7월 25일에 박영미 목사님을 통하여 “하나님의 가족 공동체를 보여주라” (“Bearing Witness in the Kingdom”, Darryl W. Stephens 씀) 를 읽고 줌을 통하여 공부하였습니다. 참석한 23명은 고후 5:18 “이 모든 것이 하나님께로 왔나니 저가 그리스도로 말미암아 우리를 자기와 화목하게 하시고 또 우리에게 회목하게 하는 직책을 주셨으니”라는 말씀을 다시 한번 생각하게 하였습니다.
2021년 총회를 11월 7일는 탄자니아에 계신 김영선 목사님의 인도로 줌을 통하여 “광야를 지나며....”라는 제목으로 이사야 41:10 말씀과 함께 설교 하셨습니다. “두려워 말라 내가 너와 함께 함이니라 놀라지 말라 나는 네 하나님이 됨이니라 내가 너를 굳세게 하리라 참으로 너를 도와 주리라 참으로 나의 의로운 오른손으로 너를 붙들리라” 김영선 목사님은 글로벌 미션 중학교를 올 1월에 시작하여 첫해를 보내면서 학생들의 진도와 학교 건물의 진척사항을 보고하였습니다.
2021년총회의 중요 안건은 2022-2023년도 북일리노이 연회 한인여선교회연합회를 앞장서서 이끌어 나갈 최완순 권사를 새 회장으로 선출 한것입니다. 최완순 권사는 살램교회(Salem KUMC 김태준 목사 담임)을 지난 25년간 섬기면서 여선교회에서 회장도 여러번 하였고 또한 멤버로서 많은 봉사를 한 연합 감리교회의 충성스러운 주님의 딸입니다.

We are thankful that in spite of the Pandemic, the Northern Illinois Conference KUMw Network was able to sustain itself; we praise the Lord for his blessings and keeping us safe.

Even though we were unable to meet in person, we were able to hold worship services and meetings, via zoom, and support missions in the US and abroad. At the same time, we were able to elect a new president to serve NIC KUMw Network in 2022-2023.

The NIC KUMw Network Dedication Service was held on February 14th via zoom. The Executive Director of National Network of KUMw , Myung Rae Lee participated from New York, presenting the work of Missionary Hee-jin Park of Koryu Women’s Mission in Kazakhstan, Central Asia. The special offering was collected and sent to Missionary Hee-jin Park through NNKUMw.

On UMCOR Sunday, a dedication worship service was held via Zoom. Instead of packing UMCOR Hygiene Kits in person, we invited two missionaries who are former members of the NIC KUMw Network. Missionary Moonsoon Lim presented her work with Golden Key Prison Ministry, Chicago, and Missionary Aeri Kim spoke about her mission work, serving in Volgograd State, Russia. Special offerings were collected and sent to each of the missionaries. Additionally, UMCOR mission donations from NIC KUMw Network churches were sent to the Midwest Mission Distribution Center to be used to make UMCOR Kits.

On July 25, 2021, Mission u was held via zoom. Rev. Young Mi Park, (Hinsdale UMC, IL) led the study with the book “Bearing Witness in the Kin-Dom”, by Darryl W. Stephens. 23 women participated and were reminded of II Corinthian 5:18, “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation”.

At the Annual Celebration, on November 7, Rev. Young-sun Kim gave a sermon from Tanzania via zoom, titled “Passing through the wilderness....” with Isa 41:10.
“Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with my right hand of righteousness.” Rev. Kim also gave a report of students’ progress as they complete the first school year of Global Mission Secondary School of Tanzania on Nov. 27.

The highlight of the 2021 Annual Celebration was the election of Wansoon Kim, as the new president for 2022-2023. Wansoon Kim, from Salem KUMC (Schaumburg, IL) has been a faithful member of the KUMw, as a member and/or as a president for the last 25 years. Congratulations!!

환경선교: 왜 탄소 중립을 해야 하는가?

한인여선교회 전국연합회에서는 주요 선교사역으로 “환경선교”에 참여하고 있다. 그래서 전 세계가 관심을 갖고 있으며, 인류의 생존을 위협하고 있는 탄소 문제에 대해서 알아보고자 한다.
“ 탄소 중립(Carbon neutral)이란 무엇이며, 구체적 실현 방안은 무엇인가?
탄소 중립은 말 그대로 인간 활동에 의한 이산화탄소 배출량을 줄이고, 남은 배출량은 흡수하거나 제거함으로써 이산화탄소 배출량이 영(0)이 되는 상태를 말한다. 이때 이산화탄소는 산림을 통해 흡수되거나, ‘이산화탄소 포집, 저장, 활용 기술’(CCUS, Carbon Capture,. Utilization and Storage)을 통해 제거되는데, 이렇듯 이산화탄소 순배출량이 Zero라는 의미에서 탄소중립은 넷-제로(net-zero)라고 불린다. 다시 말해 기후중립(climate-neutral)은 탄소중립를 포괄하는 개념으로 기후변화의 원인이 되는 이산화탄소를 비롯한 기타 온실가스의 배출량을 제로 상태로 만드는 것이다.
EU는 2019년 12월 유럽 그린딜(European Green Deal)을 통해 세계 최초로 넷 제로를 선언했고, 온실가스 배출량 최 대국인 중국은 9월 23일에, 일본은 9월 26일에 탄소 중립을 선언했다. 미국은 지난 1월 조 바이든 대통령 취임 직후 파리기후변화협약(Paris Agreement)에 복귀하면서, 바이든은 집권 4년 동안 2조 달러를 투자하여 청정에너지 인프라를 조성하고 100만 개의 일자리를 창출하여 2035년까지 친환경 에너지 100% 전환과 2050년 온실가스 배출량 제로를 선언했다. 한국도 기후변화가 위기를 넘어 재앙으로 다가오면서 국회는 현재 상황을 ‘기후 위기 비상상황’으로 선언하고 2030년 온실가스 감축과 2050년 온실가스 순 배출 제로를 목표로 민주성, 합리성, 투명성의 원칙에 따라 “정의로운 전환”과 “사회적 불평등 극복”을 위한 정책을 세우고 2020년 10월 28일 문재인 대통령은 국정연설에서 “2050년 탄소 중립”을 선언했다. 세계적으로는 70여 개국이 탄소 중립을 선언했고, 120개 국가가 ‘탄소 제로’ 국제동맹에 참여하고 있는 상황이다.
이처럼 2050년까지 넷-제로를 선언한 배경에는 2018년 인천 송도에서 열린 제48차 유엔 산하 기후변화에 관한 정부 간 협의체(IPCC) 총회에서 제안한 “지구온난화 1.5℃ 특별보고서”가 있다. IPCC는 2100년까지 지구 평균온도 상승 폭을 1.5℃ 이내로 제한하기 위해서는 전 지구적으로 2030년까지 이산화탄소 배출량을 2010년 대비 최소 45% 이상 감축하여야 하고, 2050년경에는 탄소 중립(Netzero)을 달성하여야 한다고 보고했다. 한편, 2℃ 목표 달성 경로의 경우, 2030년까지 이산화탄소 배출량을 2010년 대비 약 25% 감축해야 하며, 2070년경에는 탄소 중립(Net-zero)을 달성해야 한다고 제시했다. 평균 온도 0.5℃ 상승은 인류에 가공할만한 위협으로 다가올 것이라는 전망도 놓치지 않았다. 지구온난화가 가속화되고 지구 온도 상승이 임계치를 넘어가는 상황에서 이상기후와 동식물의 멸종은 환경 파괴만이 아니라 국내외적으로 불평등의 심화, 심각한 안보 갈등이라는 피할 수 없는 결과를 포함하는 것이다.
국가별로 제시한 탄소 제로를 향한 해법은 통상적으로 10가지로 요약된다: 석탄발전의 단계적 감축, 청정에너지와 에너지 효율 개선에 대한 투자, 건축물 개축, 소재의 탈탄소화, 친환경 자동차로의 전환, 대중교통 증가, 항공과 해운의 탈탄소화, 산림복원, 음식물 폐기물 및 쓰레기 감량, 육식 감량 및 채식증가이다. 그러나 탄소 제로의 핵심은 탈탄소 사회로의 에너지 전환이 불평등한 구조에서 배제된 이들을 포용하는 정의로운 전환이 되어야 한다. 또한 탄소 중립에 기반한 생태문명으로의 전환이 탈 인간 중심주의에 대한 성찰 및 생명에 대한 재정의가 있어야 한다. 그것은 하나님과 인간, 인간과 인간, 인간과 자연의 정의로운 관계 회복이기도 하다.”

2022년 탄소 제로를 위해 나는 무엇을 할 수 있을까? 그리고 한인여선교회가 해야 할 환경선교를 구체적으로 생각해 보자.

Environmental Mission: Why Carbon Neutralization?

NNKUMw is currently participating in “Environmental Mission" as one of our major ministries. Hence, let us dig deeper into the carbon issue—in which the entire global community is apparently deeply vested—how it is threatening mankind’s survival.

" What is Carbon Neutral and what are the specific realization plans?

Carbon neutrality literally refers to a state in which the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by human activity is reduced, and the amount of carbon dioxide emitted becomes zero by absorbing or removing the remaining amount. At this time, carbon dioxide is absorbed through forests or removed through "CCUS, Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage," and carbon neutrality is called net-zero in the sense of zero carbon dioxide net emissions. In other words, climate-neutral is a concept that encompasses carbon neutrality and makes emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses that cause climate change zero. 

The EU declared the world's first Net Zero through the European Green Deal in December 2019, with China, the largest greenhouse gas emission country, declaring carbon neutrality on September 23 that year, and Japan on September 26. With the U.S. returning to the Paris Agreement shortly after President Joe Biden took office in January, Biden invested $2 trillion in clean energy infrastructure and created 1 million jobs during his four years in power, declaring 100% eco-friendly energy conversion by 2035. As climate change approached disaster beyond crisis, the National Assembly declared the current situation as a "climate crisis emergency" and set policies to "just transition" and "overcome social inequality" in accordance with the principles of greenhouse gas reduction in 2030 and net greenhouse gas emissions in 2050. Globally, more than 70 countries have declared carbon neutrality, and 120 countries are participating in the "carbon zero" international alliance.

Behind the declaration of NetZero by 2050 is the "Special Report on Global Warming 1.5℃" proposed at the 48th Intergovernmental Council on Climate Change under the United Nations (IPCC) held in Songdo, Incheon in 2018. The IPCC reported that in order to limit the global average temperature increase to less than 1.5℃ by 2100, carbon dioxide emissions should be reduced by at least 45% worldwide by 2030 and carbon neutrality should be achieved by 2050. Meanwhile, in the case of the 2℃ target achievement route, carbon dioxide emissions should be reduced by about 25% compared to 2010 by 2030, and carbon-zero should be achieved by 2070. He also did not miss the prospect that an increase in the average temperature of 0.5℃ would come as a formidable threat to mankind. With global warming accelerating and global temperature rise above thresholds, abnormal weather and extinction of animals and plants would inevitably include consequences such as intensified inequality issues and serious security conflicts domestically and overseas, as well as environmental destruction.

There are usually 10 solutions to zero carbon posed to each country: stepwise reduction of coal power generation, investment in improving clean energy and energy efficiency, renovation of buildings, material decarbonization, conversion to eco-friendly cars, increased public transportation, decarbonization of air and cargo shipping, forest restoration, food waste and waste, meat reduction, and vegetarian growth. However, the key to zero carbon should be a fair and just transition that embraces those excluded from unequal structures. In addition, the transition to an ecological civilization based on carbon neutrality should be about reflecting on past acts of de-humanism as well as redefining life. It is also the recovery of the just relationship between God and humans, one human to another, as well as between human and nature."

이 책은 누구나 신앙인으로서 한 번쯤은 갖는 의문을 집단 상담을 통해 소설 형식으로 지루하지 않게 '나의 하나님 찾기 과정을 소개하는 책이다.
10주간 이루어진 집단 상담에서 다섯 사람의 삶과 신앙생활을 조명하며 그 과정에서 상처를 치유받고 하나님과의 관계를 회복하는 모습에 책을 읽는 사람이 자신을 투영하여 본인이 알고 있는 하나님, 또 하나님을 제대로 알고 신앙생활을 하였는지를 점검하게 되고 정말 하나님을 만날 수 있는 해결 방법을 여러 형태로 제시하는 책이다. 특히 부모와의 애착이 그 사람의 정체성, 하나님과의 관계에도 큰 영향을 주며 부모와의 애착으로 하나님의 모습이 왜곡될 수도 있고 개인의 삶이 변질될 수도 있음을 말해 주고 있다. 이것을 집단 상담을 하며 잘못된 생각, 부모와의 관계에서 상처받은 모습이 어떻게 변화되며 어떻게 진짜 나의 하나님을 찾을 수 있을까... 흥미를 갖게 해 주는 책이다.

Book Title: “Have You Met True God?”
Author: MiSun Kim

This book introduces the process of ‘meeting my true God,’ answering the curious questions that we may pose once as believers in an interesting story format about group counseling.

Throughout a 10-week session of group counseling, the book sheds light on the lives and faith of five people, how their wounds are healed in the process, and how they restore their relationships with God.
As we encounter the different stories, we ourselves are able to reflect on our faith, life and true knowledge of God. The book presents various ways to truly encounter God.

In particular, the book describes how one’s attachment with parents hugely affects the person's identity and relationship with God, and how it can distort our image of God or even deteriorate the personal life. As the readers go through these various things covered in group counseling—including distorted thoughts and relationships with parents—and witness the restorations from hurt-self to transformed-self, the book will keep you intrigued and immersed in the question, “How can I meet my true God?”
